From 2025, the training infrastructure in the Zermatt glacier ski area (Theodul Glacier) will be operated by Swiss-Ski. This is part of a strategic partnership between Zermatt Bergbahnen and Swiss-Ski. Swiss-Ski rents out the training slopes to federations/teams from Switzerland and abroad.
In addition to the various slopes for giant slalom and slalom training, there are also several speed slopes available, which are prepared for downhill and super-G sessions. These speed slopes offer optimum conditions for training at the highest level and enable athletes to prepare for races in a targeted manner.
Slopes 1a and 1b (Downhill)
Training slopes 1a and 1b are available from the tunnel until approx. mid-August (depending on conditions). After that, the full length of slopes 1a and 1b can be offered and used until around mid-October.
Super-G can be trained on slopes 1a and 1b in parallel (two lines), for downhill training both slopes are required (one line).
Transport to the upper start of slopes 1a and 1b is by skidoo (skidoo transport included in the slope price).
Slopes 13 and 14 (Super-G)
Both “Tech” training sessions (two lines) and Super-G training sessions (one line) can be held on training slopes 13 and 14. Both slopes must be reserved for Super-G training (one line).
The start of training slopes 13 and 14 is located at the lift exit. From around mid-September, pistes 13 and 14 will be extended to the middle of the former border lift. Transport to the upper start is by skidoo (skidoo transport included in the slope price).

In the event of a confirmation from Swiss-Ski, the reservation is considered provisional. Federations/teams then have until Monday 26 May 2025 to pay a deposit of 50 percent of the total rental costs. If the payment is received on time, the reservation is considered confirmed.
The final allocation of the individual training slopes will be made directly on site the day before for the following day by the slope coordinator appointed by Swiss-Ski - taking into account the different performance levels from World Cup to junior.
